INTERNAL SHOW AUDITIONS

Come be a part of the magic and join our cast & crew!

We’re looking for a large number of dedicated individuals to perform and be a part of our show process, eventually bringing to life the world-class convention entertainment that METROCON is known for in front of thousands of people! We have tons of open parts, and while we love folks who bring a host of skills to the table there’s NO experience required to get started down a path to amazing performances!

We’re hosting open auditions for the following OFFICIAL METROCON Events including:

DREAM/fight LIVE!
The Masquerade
METRO Fire Show
METRO Night Live

Who We’re Looking For…

We are, first and foremost, aiming to build a volunteer community of caring, dedicated artists and individuals who value equity, effort, and creative collaboration. We also want those folks to have a love of our source material – anime and video games!

When it comes to actual skillset, we’re looking for folks with experience in theater, martial arts, dance, singing, fire spinning/breathing, stage combat, improv, or anything else that might be useful! If you’ve never had experience at any of those things but love the idea of playing your favorite characters on stage, don’t worry – experience is always helpful but in return for your participation, you receive 5 weeks of exceptional training in acting, stage combat, fire spinning, and whatever other relevant skills you might need for your role!

Additionally, cast members are expected to make or acquire their own costumes, so we’re always looking for talented cosplayers and skilled artisans to help make the shows look amazing! You must also be able to attend rehearsals that take place in Tampa, FL, at minimum of once a week for several months prior to the convention. The detailed rehearsal schedule can be found below, towards the end of the page.

NOTE: Potential cast members must be 18 years old by the start of rehearsals.
16-17 year olds will be considered IF AND ONLY IF a parent, older sibling, guardian, etc. who is 18+ is auditioning as well, and their casting is contingent upon their guardian being cast as well.

What You Get in Return!

We know your time and energy is extremely valuable. Aside from the awesome experience and amazing friendships you’ll make doing the show, we want to make sure you get some reward for the effort you put in!

In return for performing at METROCON’s official shows, you will receive:

a Cast Badge, allowing you VIP Level access to the convention all weekend long

– up to 52 hours of combined training in acting, stage combat, dance, fire spinning, and more; training is taught by experienced/certified professionals in their art (this training would be valued in thousands of dollars at professional workshops around the country!)

– two (2) complimentary three-day passes to METROCON for you to give to friends/family, including tickets to the Masquerade!

– an annual METROCON Cast t-shirt

– discounts and special access to all future workshops, trainings, etc. offered by Team Dynamite Productions

IN-PERSON AUDITIONS

WHEN AND WHERE

In-person Event Auditions are on 1/14/2024 and 1/20/2024 this year at Lowry Park in Tampa FL, at Shelter 117

Auditions will begin at 11 AM each day, making TWO total opportunities for auditions – you only need to be present for one day – expect to spend AT MINIMUM about three hours at auditions, however, the earlier you arrive and register, the earlier you might be released. Auditions will run until all applicants are complete. ALL people auditioning must be present at 11 AM for Orientation.

AUDITIONS EACH DAY WILL BE HELD AT SHELTER 117 AT LOWRY PARK IN TAMPA

AUDITION DETAILS

– Complete a performer tryout form, available by clicking the button below! Bring this completed form with you, along with an out of costume headshot/picture attached, to your in-person audition

– wear comfortable, athletic clothes and closed toed athletic shoes to the in-person audition, you’ll be moving around a lot

– your audition will for sure involve a physical warm-up, an interview, and an acting audition; other parts of the audition process are tailored to individuals auditioning for certain types of roles/shows, including a group and individual fight audition, a fire audition (no real fire yet, don’t worry!), a group improv audition, and potentially more.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR SINGERS, DANCERS, and OTHER SPECIAL SKILLS: we are at an outdoor public location for auditions, and we do not have the facility to conduct proper musical auditions, or to facilitate intense tumbling, high falls, actual fire breathing, etc. – all things we will almost definitely be doing in our shows; if you would like to be considered for these roles, YOU MUST submit an In-Person Audition Supplement to provide a video singing audition, dance audition, demo reel, action/stunt reel, etc.
