ANNUAL THEME
Every year at METROCON, we choose a “theme” that we use to inspire our events, guests, and the overall vibe of the convention.
Year 22: Yesterday's Future
YEAR 22 – YESTERDAY’S FUTURE
The theme for METROCON 2025 is “Yesterday’s Future” – METROCON is always looking forward to the future – and sometimes that future can be scary. Instead of focusing on the bad, we’re looking to take inspiration from the utopian future envisioned by anime and video games of the past – especially since the “distant future” where many of those stories were set was 2025! We may not have mobile suits and free food for everyone yet, but there’s a sense of wonder and community that artists of the past felt was possible. Let’s reclaim our little piece of Yesterday’s Future together, and create the world we were promised in the small ways we can!
“Wait – what happened to the “Versus” theme? Why change the way the theme works? I thought it was cool!”
Read our blog post here about our new theme format, and why we changed it!
