Costume Safety

If your costume hinders your vision or movement in any way, you should have a friend, or “handler”, with you at all times who can move and see freely.

Leashes are permitted; however, if you are wearing the collar, you must be holding the handle. Leashes should not be extended between two or more people, as this causes an issue for the other patrons.

Costume Policy Preface

METROCON is a family-friendly event, and there will be people of all ages present throughout the convention. Please keep this in mind when designing and choosing your costumes, and allow your common sense and good taste to prevail.

Shoes are required at the Tampa Convention Center at all times.

Please note: METROCON reserves the right to deem a costume as unacceptable and to request that the wearer makes modifications as necessary, change out of the costume entirely into more appropriate clothing, or require you to leave the convention.

What are the registration hours?

Registration is open:

Thursday: 5PM – 9PM (Pre-registration pick-up for VIP and Weekend Passes)
Friday: (8AM – 9AM VIP ONLY) 9AM – 7PM
Saturday: 9AM – 7PM
Sunday: 9AM – 3PM

I lost my badge – can I get another one?

No. Due to counterfeiting, badge swapping, and abuse of the badge replacement system, under no circumstances does METROCON provide a discount or replacement badge for those who have lost their badge. Treat your badge like cash, as you will have to replace it at full cost if it is lost.

What does a pass cover?

The Three Day and Single Day Passes grant access to all standard events, panels, workshops, raves, merchant area, and all badge-check areas of the convention center for the day(s) indicated on the pass.
The Masquerade Ticket admits one person with a valid Three Day or Friday Pass to the Masquerade.
The VIP Upgrade grants early access to events, preferred front-row seating for Main Events, Special Events, and Guest Track panels, preferred autograph access for all autograph signings, early access to the Merchant Hall, a separate line at registration for badge pickup, a free convention T-Shirt, a complimentary ticket to the Masquerade, plus much more including free stuff and exclusive access (subject to availability and change).
Some events may be VIP only or VIP priority, and some events may require a separate fee for entry (gaming tournaments, the Masquerade, etc.).
Information on individual ticket types can be found on the registration page.

How does pre-registration work at the convention?

Simply bring your receipt(s) showing your QR code(s) and identification to the METROCON Registration Desk. We will check you in, and hand you your badges and or wristbands. A photo ID is preferred, but not necessary. Children 6 and under will be verified at this time.

When a ticket or package is purchased online, you will receive several pre-generated QR codes to check in with at the convention. You will first receive a code for the whole purchase – use this if you want to pick up all of the tickets in one order at one time. It is then your responsibility to give the passes out to the other members of your group if needed. Each individual item in your purchase will also have its own QR code issued by our ticketing provider and can be checked in by itself. Simply send the QR code to the person claiming the item ahead of time, and they will be able to claim their individual ticket at registration themselves.

METROCON will not hold passes for people, and once a QR code has been redeemed, it cannot be redeemed again. As a reminder, METROCON does NOT mail tickets to pre-registered pass holders under any circumstances. All tickets of all types must be picked up at the convention.

How long will it take to process my registration online?

Usually within 10 to 15 minutes. In an e-mail, you should receive your confirmation and receipt. Please bring this and Photo ID to avoid any complications. If you are ever concerned about your status or think that your pre-registration is taking an unusually long time, please don’t hesitate to email Registration to check up on it. Your e-mail should also contain a code that can be scanned at Registration to pick up your tickets – this makes things infinitely faster for you at Registration!

What tickets can I pre-register for?

Tickets that can be pre-registered include VIP Upgrades, weekend passes (Fri-Sun), Masquerade passes, and single-day passes for each day of the event. Please double check your cart and your selections when pre-registering tickets to ensure that you are purchasing passes for the day(s) you wish to attend, to avoid mix-ups.
